Meet Banner 💙

Banner is an estimated 2-year-old Border Collie weighing around 40 pounds. He's up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives, recently neutered, and ready to find the family he's been waiting for.

Before coming to Herding Hearts ResQ, Banner was one of six Border Collies who were dumped after surviving unimaginable neglect. Life hadn't shown him much kindness, so it's no surprise that the world still feels a little overwhelming. But despite everything he's been through, Banner is choosing to try. Every day he grows a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more willing to believe that people can be safe.

Once Banner realizes he's not in danger, you start to see the sweet dog hiding beneath his fear. He has a gentle soul, enjoys quiet companionship, and is beginning to seek out affection from the people he trusts. Watching him gain confidence has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey, and we know his best days are still ahead.

He's already doing well with his potty training and walks nicely on a leash. Loud noises and sudden movements can still startle him, so he'll need someone who understands that confidence is built through patience, consistency, and kindness. Banner cannot be trusted off leash or outside of a securely fenced yard at this time, as fear can cause him to bolt.

Banner isn't looking for perfection—he's looking for someone willing to meet him where he is. He'll thrive in a calm, patient home that will celebrate the small victories, allow him to settle in at his own pace, and never expect him to be someone he's not.

The most incredible dogs are often the ones who simply needed someone to believe in them. Banner may not be the dog who runs up to greet you on day one, but when you earn his trust, you'll have something truly special. There's nothing quite like watching a scared dog discover that life can be safe, that hands can be gentle, and that home is forever.
