Rook | Recently Adopted

Meet Rook! Rook is a sweet, affectionate, and playful boy with herding roots and a heart of gold. After a rough start, he's come out of his shell and now seeks out snuggles and affection from the people he trusts. He’s intelligent, observant, and full of potential—ready to bond deeply with someone who understands the heart of a Border Collie.

Rook came to us with a buddy after being dumped in the Springfield, MO area. He and Clover (now with Midwest Border Collie Rescue) were left wandering the forest until they were trapped and transported to safety. Though he was unsure of people at first, Rook has blossomed in our care and now enjoys the comforts of home life and companionship.

Rook was recently adopted, but his first family lived life on the road, and the lack of stability proved too stressful for him. He returned to us in search of something more grounded—what he truly needs is consistency, routine, and a calm environment where he can feel safe and secure.

He does well with other dogs and would thrive in a home where he can continue to build confidence and feel supported. Rook is looking for a patient adopter who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in—someone who will let him be their shadow, their adventure buddy, and their soft place to land.

Despite his fearful beginnings and wanting no human contact during his first few days, Rook has made an incredible turnaround. He now seeks out affection and has become one of the biggest snugglers at the rescue.
